Dear Politician,

My previous post has inspired me to dedicate this one to my "dear" politician. Here is a letter that I have longed write to you for a while now.

Dear Politician,
How are you? I sure hope that you are doing well.
I have been trying vehemently to get a hold of you, but all in vain. I know you have been busy and so have not had time to visit the "village". Here is a quick rap up of whats been happening.
Well I shall start with the good news, the village officially has 5 cows. Mrs Mwanzia's daughter got married off and a healthy cow was her bride price .I am proud to say the cow came with child, a double celebration for us. On a more Somber note, Mr Otieno our village elder died last month. Remember him? he was the one who headed up the youth wing of your political campaign last election. Well old age finally caught up with him I guess. I was surprised that you did not show up for the funeral, but am sure you had very pressing matters to attend to.We unfortunately had to slaughter two cows (Tradition dictates) so as to rest his soul. So I guess the celebration of the bride price was premature.

It has been great to see you came back last week. I tried to meet you but I see you are a very important individual now and so its impossible to get past your passe. I am aware that the elections are soon and you will only be busier with your campaign, but I have a few concerns that I think you should address before you set out your new manifesto. Here goes
  • Job Creation:- Well, you did promise me that "big" job in the "big" City. How my family was excited . I still am packed and ready to go, Been waiting 4 years now but am patient and I know that you will soon call me. My fellow peers, well those not drowning their sorrows and desperation in all the ridiculously cheap alcohol, have formed our new security unit. You do know our chief is really under staffed so they help out a lot. I must admit it is quite costly but at least we get to sleep "safe" at night.
  • Re-afforestation :-Boy was I glad when all those seedlings were brought to the village on World Reafforestation Day. Was sure we broke the world record on number of tree to be planted by a small village. It was great to see you get your shinny new leather shoes dusty, you really got into it there. And all those people willing to take our pictures for free, now that was just so super. You should have seen all of us hurdled in Kipruto's bar trying to catch a glimpse of some of our faces.Well, maybe we were too many to appear on that clip, but its good that you appeared, we had "one of us"on TV.Well unfortunately the seedlings did not survive that years drought. Logic demanded that we save the water for our livestock which ate the trees anyway. They (trees) had no chance.
  • Drought Relief Program :- We sure could use those boreholes and wells. They will really come in handy, I mean we could irrigate our land and food will be in plenty. Am sure your very expensive trees would have survived that wrath of starving livestock. The village river is seasonal and now we are forced to beg from our "neighbors". They don't like us much, I wonder why? but they sure did not show any mercy to our church after you took the parliamentary seat. We forgive them though, No hard feelings.
  • Infrastructure :-  The fine young contractor from the city did arrive. With a whole lot of fancy equipment and big machinery. Dug up half the road and stuck sticks on the ground as markings (I helped pick out the sticks by the way). Well he promised to be back and you know we haven't seen him since. Now we no longer have a road and the bus will not get to our village. We are forced to beg from our "neighbors" once again. The sugar mill is also there and sugarcane farming has now become a nightmare and no one bothers anymore.
Well I don't want to sound too demanding and ungrateful. Thank you so much for the t shirts (the whole village is a buzz with their new attire) and for the umbrellas (although it doesn't rain here much). Am also very sorry for all the legal drama you got going on. I was also infuriated at all those baseless allegations thrown in your face. how dare they accuse you of embezzling our CDS account (what is that by the way? Legal jargon?). If you want my advise, ignore them. They are just your political rivals out to taint your name and your image. But take heart the lord will not forsake you.
Well that's all for now. Hope to hear from you soon.

Yours adoringly,
Constituant

    Country Of Beggars ?

It is finally here, that season where Kenya goes through catastrophe after catastrophe. Then again isnt this the norm all year round? No, Am talking of that time just before the election and right in the middle of a scandle, when all sort of calamities rock our nation (Nothing to do with mother nature by the way).

Well, with some "Political Big wigs" marred with all sorts of legal "problems". From "allegations" of corruption here at "home" , to their international cases of CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY at the Hague.
Half the parliament embroiled in some legal case at the courts challenging their parliamentary seat.

The Shilling has definitely seen better days, with the raise in fuel prices the cost of living is so high am "surprised" the whole country isn't living on less than a dollar a day. Despite the ridiculously prices placed on basic commodities, those same commodities are as scarce as the hope of World peace.

Let our leaders not forget how "We got their backs". In the middle of all this problems we manage to set half a slum on fire; "We" are poor and that liter of siphoned "free" petrol will go along way. We drink our selves to the grave in the name of "cheap" alcohol. We drive our cars recklessly because time waits for no man and we "gotta chase that paper". We are too quick to forget the promises of our so called leaders because no one holds them accountable.

And in the wake of all this nonsense we rush to our "cronies" on social media and of course through our very "vigilant" media asking Kenyans to please contribute to help out our brothers and sisters. It was "KENYANS FOR KENYA" Lets feed our fellow country men and women. Of course because their MP needs the funds slated for a new borehole to pay off his huge bank loans.
Then comes "A SHILLING FOR SINAI" Lets help out our other brothers and sisters rebuild their lives after that horrible fire halted their lives. That silly pipeline just had to run right under their houses? Hoards of unemployed youth are lining the streets with tins at hand, begging on behalf of the victims.

"Tunaomba serikali itusaidie". Serikali gani? Sorry Serikali is busy redirecting desperately needed fund to offset their unpaid taxes and cover all their legal fees.Lest you forget that their campaign kitty's cannot possibly be empty. No! Serikali needs a "break" to focus on themselves for now.

We cannot even dare pray to the Lord for help, Nope! Because HE has more important things to tend to; Let the Lord find us a "Husband" or "Wife". Then again He doesn't seem to understand "Kenyanise"  so lets "hire" someone else to do that for us.

International Community .... blah blah blah! What do I know about those? Lets just get a soft loan to help our ailing shilling, We'll face the repercussions in the next budget; Let the "Smokers" and "Alcoholics" pay for it right?
